Sian Wyn Gibson, Suo Gan

This album is a glorious concert of 16 international favourites, by the young Welsh Mezzo Soprano.

The young Welsh Mezzo Soprano, born in the old slate-quarrying village of Deiniolen, but who now lives outside Caernarfon, present her debut album, "Suo Gân". The album is a glorious concert of 16 international favourites, including two Aaron Copland songs, Long Time Ago and At The River, Welsh favourites, Gweddi'r Arglwydd ("Lord's Prayer"), Cwm Pennant, Tosturi Duw, and the beautiful Welsh lullaby Suo Gân. Siân has also included amongst her favourites on this CD Le Violette, Non so piu cosa son, Wiegenlied, Una voce poco fa, and an Andrew Lloyd Webber classic, Wishing you were here again.

Siân completed her music training at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, gaining a Diploma in professional performance. Siân won scholarships from The Countess of Munster Trust and The Peter Moores Foundation, along with the Buttle Memorial Trust Award, the Gwilym Gwalchmai Jones Prize, and appearing as a finalist in the prestigious Frederick Cox competition. Siân's Opera performances are numerous, having been with The D'oyly Cartre Opera Company and Opera North, Leeds, and Oratorio performances include Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas", Handel's "Messiah", Mozart's "Requiem Mass in C" to name but a few.

At the moment Siân is concentrating on her Concert and Oratorio work, and also works as a singing tutor at Coleg Menai, and from her home near Caernarfon where she lives with her husband and two young children.

Dyma albym cyntaf y mezzo soprano o Wynedd, sydd yn cyflwyno casgliad gwych o ffefrynnau rhyngwladol - un ar bymtheg ohonynt i gyd! Cynhyrchydd a chyfeilydd yr albym yw Annette Bryn Parri.

Mae'r arlwy amrywiol yn cynnwys dwy gân gan Aaron Copland, Long Time Ago ag At The River, a cheir "clasuron" Cymreig megis Tosturi Duw, Gweddi'r Arglwydd, Cwm Pennant, a'r hwiangerdd Suo Gân. Ar gyfer y casgliad yma o'i ffeffrynnau, mae Siân hefyd wedi dewis Non so piu cosa son ("Le nozze di figaro") a Una voce poco fa ("Il Barbiere di Siviglia" Rossini), darn gan Brahms, Vergebliches Ständchen a dwy gân Gymreig allan o "Caneuon Dwy Fil - Hyn na'r Coed a Cilfan y Coed.

Cafodd Siân ei magu ym mhentref Deiniolen ger Caernarfon, ardal sydd â thraddodiad cerddorol cryf yn perthyn iddi ac yn fuan iawn daeth i amlygrwydd fel cantores ar lwyfan Eisteddfodau. Cwblhaodd ei haddysg gerddorol yng Ngholeg Cerdd Manceinion gan ennill sawl ysgoloriaeth. Bu'n aelod o gwmnïau opera D'oyly Carte ac Opera North yn Leeds a chwareuodd nifer o rannau operatig blaenllaw. Dychwelodd i Opera North i recordio rhan Fenws gyda chwmni D'oyly Carte ar label Sony.

Ar hyn o bryd mae Siân yn canolbwyntio ar waith Oratorio a chyngerdd, ac mae'n rhoi gwersi canu yn ei chartref ger Caernarfon ac yng Ngholeg Menai, ac mae'n fam i ddau o blant ifanc, Catrin a Sion!
