Love is a Melody

This famous choir has played a key role in the musical life of Wales for several decades, and under the masterful baton of D.Eifion Thomas, they have helped to widen the horizons of the Welsh male choir tradition, and brought enjoyment and excitement into the lives of many thousands of people world-wide. One of the main features of their singing is their obvious enjoyment, and that joy is once more evident in this collection of songs, aided by soprano Iona Jones and soloists John Morris and Byron Thomas.

Twelve songs which display the variety of their repertoire: songs from the world of film and musicals, Welsh and English hymns, contemporary popular favourites and some from a more classical source – and all with an emphasis on strong melodies, great arrangements, and that special passion.

Mae’r côr wedi chwarae rhan allweddol ym mywyd cerddorol Cymru ers ei ffurfio yn 1964 ym mhentref Bynea. O dan arweiniad galluog D.Eifion Thomas, maent wedi helpu i ehangu gorwelion byd y corau meibion Cymreig, ac wedi dwyn diddanwch a chyffro i fywydau miloedd o bobol mewn sawl gwlad. Prif nodwedd eu crefft yw’r mwynhad a gânt o ganu, a daw’r llawenydd hwnnw i’r amlwg eto yn y casgliad hwn, gyda chymorth y soprano Iona Jones a’r ddau unawdydd John Morris a Byron Thomas.

Dwsin o ganeuon sy’n arddangos amrywiaeth eu rhaglen: caneuon o fyd y sioe a’r ffilm, emynau Cymraeg a Saesneg, caneuon poblogaidd cyfoes a darnau mwy clasurol – a’r cyfan gyda phwyslais ar alawon cryf, cynghanedd lleisiol, a’r angerdd hwnnw sy’n arbennig i leisiau meibion Cymru mewn cytgord.
