The Gentle Good, Dawel Disgyn

The Gentle Good, also known as Cardiff born Gareth Bonello, is proud to present this EP, Dawel Disgyn (Gently Falls), released on CD and vinyl by Gwymon. Even though he was born and raised in the Welsh capital, his work represents the freedom of the country and his inspiration is drawn from Mother Nature.

Inspired by solo artists who sing with string accompaniment such as Nick Drake, Dawel Disgyn presents mystical sounds of folk music with a modern twist. While Dawel Disgyn retains his smooth and drowsy signature tone, the EP further defines his acoustic sound, offering an intriguing and magical canvas.

The EP offers two Welsh songs and two English, and one of the tracks is a remix of 'Amser' (Time). We are presented with the expected acoustic mix of guitar and banjo, but he also presents us to the cello, metalophone and glockenspiel. All the instrumentation are performed by the man himself with the notable exception of the contribution of Seb Goldfinch's amazing talent on the violin and Lindsey Leven's tender backing vocals. The effortless harmonies retain a dreamy quality and Gareth's voice is rich yet tender and full of the blues. The Gentle Good is a favorite of Radio 1 presenter Huw Stephens, he said; “Gareth's interest and love towards folk and acoustic music is very apparent from the first moment you hear his music. The music is pure and honest, eager to take you to another world whist at the same time totally comfortable in the world it exists.”

Gareth Bonello, yr artist o'r ddinas yw The Gentle Good ac mae'n falch cael cyflwyno ei EP, Dawel Disgyn gafodd ei ryddhau ar CD a finyl ar label Gwymon. Er iddo gael ei eni ac ymgartrefi yng Nghaerdydd, mae ei waith yn adlewyrchu rhyddid y wlad a'i ysbrydoliaeth yn hanu o fyd natur. Yn cael ei ysbrydoli gan gantorion unigol yn canu gyda threfniadau llinynnol fel Nick Drake ar Five Leaves Left, mae Dawel Disgyn yn cyflwyno caneuon gyda sail gwerinol ond teimlad fwy cyfoes.

Tra bod Dawel Disgyn yn parhau gwefr addfwyn a thyner cydnabyddus The Gentle Good, mae hefyd yn diffinio ei sain acwstig yn bellach, gan gynnig ymdeimlad braf ac hwyliog eto'n glyd ac hudolus. Mae'r EP yn cynnwys dwy gân Gymraeg a dwy gân Saesneg, un ohonynt yn ailgymysgiad o 'Amser'. Cawn y gymysgedd acwstig disgwyliedig o gitâr a banjo, ond mae hefyd yn ein cyflwyno i soddgrwth, metalophone a glockenspiel gydag eiliadau o'r ffidl, a hyn oll i gyd wedi'u perfformio gan y dyn ei hun ag eithrio talent anhygoel Seb Goldfinch ar y ffidl a llais cefndir mwyn Lindsey Leven. Mae'r harmonïau’n hawdd gan barhau'r tôn breuddwydiol ac mae llais Gareth yn gyfoethog ond eto'n addfwyn.

Dywedodd y cyflwynydd Radio 1 Huw Stephens, “Mae diddordeb a cariad Gareth tuag at gerddoriaeth werin a acwstig yn gwbl amlwg o'r eiliad gyntaf chi'n clywed ei gerddoriaeth. Mae'n bur ac yn onest, yn awyddus i fynd a chi i fyd arall tra'n gwbl gyffyrddus yn y byd mae'n bodoli.”
