Colwyn Bay in the 1950s

Author: Graham Roberts

Like every other town in Great Britain, Colwyn Bay spent the 1950s shaking off the effects and austerity which were the legacy of the Second World War. Colwyn Bay, however, had been affected by the war in a very special way, and to a certain degree, the optimism generated in other towns around the country was not mirrored by that shown in Colwyn Bay.

Fel pob tref arall ym Mhrydain, treuliodd Bae Colwyn yr 1950au yn ceisio ymddihatru o effeithiau caledi'r Ail Ryfel Byd. Ond cafodd y dref ei heffeithio gan y rhyfel mewn modd arbennig, ac oherwydd hynny, nid oedd yr optimistiaeth a welwyd yn nhrefi eraill Prydain i'w ganfod ym Mae Colwyn.
